Do you have yeast affection?

Remember these? The Cleophus Quealy t-shirts we created for the Summer Beer Tasting generated so many “Where can I buy one?” requests, we’ve decided to have some more printed up.

The men’s crew neck and women’s v-neck both come in black, proudly bearing the Cleophus Quealy logo on the back. Check out the different slogans available, fill out the form below if you are interested. We will get back to you once we finalize designs and availability.

Cascadian Ale Tasting and Dinner

Calling all serious beer nerds! We’re putting the finishing touches on three Cascadian Ales, each with a slightly different hop profile. We’ll be hosting a private tasting at the homebrewery to get feedback on which one makes it into the Cleophus Quealy fall lineup.

If you’re interested in attending, let us know and we’ll send more details. Spots are very limited!

Pie Contest Recap

Nothing beats a slice of homemade pie after an afternoon full of BBQ and beer, and that’s exactly what some of our Summer Beer Tasting guests got this past weekend. To what did we owe this confectionary delight? The pie contest, of course!

Fifteen pies were entered in the competition, and our judges tasted them all, poring over appearance, filling, and crust.

Eventually, they were able to accomplish their task: pick the best three pies. Here’s what they came up with:

1st Place: Vickie Watson, for her boysenberry blueberry pie.

2nd Place: Marie Brennan, with a peach blackberry pie.

3rd Place: Matt Kent, for his coconut cream pie.

Because there were just too many delicious pies, the judges also awarded three honorable mentions: Jen Mischak for her banana cream pie with caramel and chocolate, Stephany Wilkes for a peach custard pie, and Matt Kent for his second entry, a s’mores pie. Each winner was awarded a beautiful ribbon by our emcee.

After the award ceremony, the pies were devoured by hungry beer lovers. Looks like everyone was a winner here, folks. Thanks to all our pie competitors! To see more photos, visit our Summer 2012 Beer Tasting album on Facebook.

Thank You!

In case you weren’t there to see for yourself, the Cleophus Quealy Summer Beer Tasting was a smashing success. Hundreds of beautiful people joined us in Oakland to taste beers, groove to live music, nerd out in the photo booth, and feast on delicious BBQ and homemade pie. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from the local beer community, and we owe you our thanks.

Photo by Cyrus FarivarWe also want to recognize our volunteers, without whom none of this would have been possible: Melissa, Ali, Jenny, Barbara, Glen, Eric, Kelly, Sarah, Mhat, Kristi, Max, Cyrus, João, Shree, Jennifer, Angel, Davery, Kathy, Jim, and finally, our fantastic emcee Seth.

Thanks of course to The Zoo, as well as Wexler’s for keeping everyone full and happy, and Bicycle Coffee for collaborating with us on the immensely popular Milk Moustache.

The photo booth saw lots of traffic, and the photos are up on our Facebook page for your tagging pleasure. If you took photos at the event, we’d love to see them, too! Just post them directly to our wall. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, so you’ll be first to know about future events and upcoming T-shirt sales!

Stay tuned for more updates on the pie contest, and our collaborations with The Zoo and Bicycle Coffee. Again, we want to thank everyone who came out on Saturday. We’re excited to continue on this journey of community-driven craft brewing, and can’t wait to see you at our next event.

Final Music Update!

We’re looking forward to the Cloephus Quealy Summer Beer Tasting tomorrow, and have two more great musical acts to introduce you to!

Chloe Fuller will be starting the day off with a set of beautifully acoustic folk and blues. A Bay Area native who draws inspiration from artists like Dan Auerbach and Laura Marling, Chloe and her guitar have been delighting audiences from here to Boston for years.

We’re happy to announce that Michael Aadberg will be performing live as well! Michael is a hugely talented multi-instrumentalist who has played keys for many artists including Lalah Hathaway, Goapele, and Kenny Garrett, and produced the title tracks from Goapele’s Closer and Change it All albums.

With our previously announced artists, this is a lineup that’s sure to please. See you tomorrow!
